The 10 Best Films of 2012.

I unfortunately have yet to see The Master, so it will not appear on this list.

1. ZERO DARK THIRTY
Zero Dark Thirty was not only impeccably made and entertaining, but the also boasted the year's best script and performance.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012): A rise to the occasion.

I am going to start with saying this: YES, this is better than The Dark Knight. The Dark Knight Rises is a bigger film with better characters and a badass Bane.

The film kicks off on a sour note. With all these new characters, we never see them get a proper introduction. The 8 year difference between the films is also a contribution to the introduction of the new characters. We see Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the movie, trying to steal from a hermit Bruce Wayne. This is our beginning setup, but why? It's not very well explained, except for implication that Bruce is a hermit after making a poor investment in Wayne Enterprises.

Malick's next wonder is titled and rated.

If people ask me my most anticipated film this year, it's a three-way tie between The Dark Knight Rises, The Master, and Untitled Terrence Malick Project. Until now.

Malick, a very enigmatic and quality-over-quantity filmmaker, is slamming and going in reverse. Last year he brought us the masterful The Tree of Life, and this year is bringing us To the Wonder.

Wonder
is rated R, for sex/nudity. I won't be surprised if it's shopped around at Cannes, or makes a splash in Venice. If it comes out this year or next, I'm psyched either way.

Some stuff to look out for come 85th Oscars.

So every beginning of Oscar season, every Oscar blogging noob fellow does some predictions for the next year. There's a difference between what I'm rooting for and what will triumph. What do I think will do well?

WHAT MAY TRIUMPH:
Les Miserables
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Untitled Terrence Malick Project (OK, I'm a little bias)
The Great Gatsby
Lincoln
Argo
Hyde Park on Hudson (For Bill Murray)
Django Unchained
Thirty Dark Zero
The Master
Moonrise Kingdom (Best Original Screenplay)

WHAT SHOULD SUCCEED:
Untitled Terrence Malick Project
The Dark Knight Rises
Thirty Dark Zero
The Master
Argo

Now, I highly doubt the greatness of these predictions, but only time will tell.
