I've been eagarly awaiting this year's Cannes Film Festival ever since The Tree of Life won big last year. Unfortuantely, this year's lineup is... disappointing.
There's a healthy amount of english-language films in the festival, including On the Road, Moonrise Kingdom, Cosmopolis, Killing Them Softly, The Paperboy, Mud, and Lawless.

I'm a little more optimistic than you on the prospects of some of these, but do see what you mean about some of the bigger names not appearing (at least yet, since they always add names as we get closer.)
ReplyDeleteThe ones that I'm most looking forward to are probably Cosmopolis, On The Road, Moonrise, Mud, the Paperboy and Rust & Bone. I'm not sure what to think of Lawless at this point.

DeleteI'm a big fan, first and foremost. I'm mainly disappointed because my most anticipated films of this year are 'The Master' and 'Untitled Terrence Malick Project'.
The Master is scheduled for October, so I'm pretty confident that they'll stick to the plan and release it this year. Malick, on the other hand... Let's just say that I'm hopeful but I'm not going to hold my breath!
