The 10 Best Films of 2012.

I unfortunately have yet to see The Master, so it will not appear on this list.

1. ZERO DARK THIRTY
Zero Dark Thirty was not only impeccably made and entertaining, but the also boasted the year's best script and performance.

2. DJANGO UNCHAINED
A rousing entertainment and homage to the spaghetti westerns of the olden day.

3, 4, 5. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, LOOPER, SKYFALL
All three of these films were popcorn action at its best. All three of these are great because they have human characters, ones that we actually care about. I honestly can't pick between all three of these on which is better, so they all tie for #3,4, and 5.

6. MOONRISE KINGDOM
A well-made and humorous tale of young love that chugs quite nicely in its 90 minute frame.

7. SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK
Well-acted, well-directed, well-written. Well, it's one fine film.

8. AMOUR
Amour rips your heart out and never gives it back. It is an emotional rollercoaster with the year's most heroic hero, Georges.

9. LINCOLN
Lincoln tests your patience. It's a respectful film, well-acted and witty.

10. BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD
An important and innovative independent work. 20 years from now, people will be talking about this beast. 1000 years from now, people will remember a Hushpuppy who lived with her daddy in the Bathtub.

2012 was a great year. Here's hoping 2013 is even better!
